This procedure should be executed in the following cases :
- If you replace the stepper motor.
- If you replace the main board.
- If the steam wand assembly is not moving smoothly, makes abnormal noise or if the calibration procedure is not correctly executed.
Planning
- Prepare the area where to adjust the main board.
- Execute the following procedure first : Removing the housing of Perfect Moose Greg V2
- Prepare a multimeter with two clamps attached to the measuring probes, set for measuring DC voltage. Attach a small conductive screwdriver to the red clamp (positive polarity).
Procedure
- Locate the potentiometer (RV201) mounted on the main PC board.
- Locate the stepper motor
- Check and note the currant of the motor. This is very important and you will need it later on in this procedure. There are 2 models. One with 1,2A and one with 2,5A.
- Remove the SD card and attach the black clamp (negative polarity) to the metal housing of the SD card slot.
- Turn the Perfect Moose on. Since the SD card is not present the screen will just show the welcome screen and nothing else will happen but you can ignore this.
- Place the small conductive screwdriver, attached to the red clamp (positive polarity) in the middle of the potentiometer. Make sure the conductive screwdriver does not touch any other parts.
- For motor 1,2A : Gently turn the potentiometer with the conductive screwdriver until the reading on the multimeter indicates 0,6 Vdc (+/- 0,03 Vdc).
- For motor 2,5A : Gently turn the potentiometer with the conductive screwdriver until the reading on the multimeter indicates 1,2 Vdc (+/- 0,06 Vdc).
FINAL CHECK
- Turn the device off, remove the black clamp and screwdriver.
- Place the SD card back.
- Turn the device on again.
- Observe if the steam wand assembly is moving smoothly without any abnormal noise and if the calibration procedure is correctly executed. If not, check the voltage again and adjust.
